Upper Cumberland Child Advocacy Center Brand Redesign
I traveled to Eastern Kentucky University to compete in a design competition called “Design it Forward” with other college students from schools all over the midwest where we would be tasked with updating a nonprofits branding materials. My partner and I received 7th place out of 28 other teams. We scored the highest out of the other teams from our school. The day of the competition, we were given a brief and given from 10am to 4pm to create a new logo and pamphlet for the Upper Cumberland Child Advocacy Center in Tennessee as well as prepare a presentation to give to a board of design professionals who would decide the winner of the competition. My partner and I’s goals were to create materials that were uplifting and bright, yet targeted both children and adults. We did this by adding the color yellow as well as including a butterfly as a symbol of hope. In our pamphlet, we included statistics surrounding child abuse in Tennessee as well as how allies can help break the cycle and raise their voices.
